Tarn-X is the original “wipe & rinse” tarnish remover

Jelmar has been a growing, evolving company since its inception in 1949.  The company began when Manny Gutterman established a national sales representative organization, Manny Gutterman & Associates, Inc.  This new company was dedicated to selling all types of proprietary products to chain drug, variety, hardware and department stores and also established an ethical and reliable channel for “close-out” merchandise.

The success that Manny Gutterman & Associates achieved gave Manny the direction and determination to develop and sell his own brand-name products.  He created a new company, Jelmar, in the late 1960s when a friend in advertising asked Manny to sell a warehouse full of cleaning product the friend received in barter from a bankrupt client.  Manny – along with sons Steven and Arthur – reformulated and repackaged the abandoned product and sold it as Tarn-X®.  One of the first products that used the phrase “AS SEEN ON TV” in commercials and on packaging, Tarn-X® over time has become the number one selling metal cleaner in the United States, as well as a household staple which can be found in every major retailer in the United States.

Tarn-X Tarnish Remover (pronounced “Tarnex”) works very effectively on gold and silver. It removes tarnish with very little effort. Tarn-X contains some very dangerous ingredients, though. Rubber gloves must be worn when using Tarn-X. Items must be rinsed well in water after rubbing with Tarn-X. Keep it out of reach of small children and pets.

Takes Very Little Effort
Tarn-X Tarnish Remover takes tarnish off silverware and gold jewelry with very little effort. The instructions say to wet a dry cloth or cotton ball with Tarn-X and wipe the tarnish off. This worked well. I removed the tarnish from a full set of silverware in just an hour. I removed tarnish from a gold bracelet in less than a minute.

I do recommend Tarn-X. There is no easier way to remove tarnish from gold and silver. The next easiest way is nowhere near as easy. I just really worry that kids might get burned from the sulfuric acid, or pets might chew the bottle and eat it. Please be very cautious with this product.
